Vocational Training Programme for the Freight Logistics Sector (VTP) ³f¹Bª«¬y·~¾·~°V½m½Òµ{ |

The Hongkong
Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics Limited (HAFFA), works
alongside the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong
(CILTHK), and with funding support from the Hong Kong Government via the Hong
Kong Logistics Development Council (LOGSCOUNCIL), has developed a VTP in the
Airfreight and Seafreight sectors. The VTP will provide industry
newcomers with a structured curriculum which will greatly enhance the skills
and capabilities of the local workforce. The VTP will provide training in basic technical
skills, industry-specific knowledge and sound implementation guidelines of
freight operations. This will assist newcomers and those who wish to refresh
their skills in acquiring both practical knowledge and hands-on skills,
enabling them to make immediate contributions to the industry once in the
workplace. Unlike other programmes
that focus on the theoretical aspects, this programme
provides practical knowledge and skills that are crucial for business
operations and the logistics industry at large. |

Background |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The freight forwarding industry is lacking a
structured and day-to-day practical training programme. Companies can only arrange internal
training such as on-the-job training by supervisors who may not be fully
equipped with necessary teaching techniques or a comprehensive programme. It
is costly and the outcome of staff performance is uncertain. Both the CILTHK and HAFFA took an
active role in developing a structured training programme
to standardize the internal training procedures for both SME and larger-sized
companies. By joining the VTP,
more of your resources can be focused on the operations, leading to higher
productivity. |

|
Apart from the efforts made by both
organizations, other industrial associations also voiced their supports for
the programme.
Please find the press releases (English / Chinese) for your kind information. On behalf of the CILTHK and HAFFA, we would
like to highly recommend this VTP to you, and please have your Training / Personnel / Human Resources
Department to consider this as an alternative to your internal training programme.
Unlike other programmes that focus on the
theoretical aspects, this VTP provides practical knowledge and hands-on
skills that are crucial for business operations and the logistics industry at
large, your staff will be trained and able to make immediate contributions to
your company once in the workplace. We would like to encourage you to consider
supporting your staff who attend this VTP by: Ø
Making special arrangements such as: n
¡§allowing them to leave the office early so
as to attend the class on time¡¨, n
¡§offering them paid-leave to attend the
class¡¨, and/or Ø
Sponsoring partial
or full amount of the course fee.
With your great support, trust that the staff
can improve or enhance his work skills and so his inclination to excel in the
workplace will be stronger. As
